Requirements
Familiar with the Asia, Africa and Latin America trade lanes with at least one year of experience. Salary negotiable.
Skills
- Proficient with Office software.
- Strong English communication and writing skills.
- One or more years in freight forwarding, with knowledge of forwarder suppliers, carrier resources and operating models.
- Careful and responsible, hard-working and committed to the role.
- Sharp market instincts and the ability to gather market intelligence.
- Able to handle unexpected situations.
- Strong negotiation, client relationship management and interpersonal skills.
- Confident across the full booking, charge amendment and release workflow, including bill of lading management, customer record maintenance and exception handling, using the relevant business systems.
Responsibilities
- Rate and cost management: track supplier rates on a regular basis and manage the margin between cost and sales price.
- Supplier and client management: maintain relationships with suppliers and third-party channels, and manage classification and follow-up.
- Business development: develop customers and win cargo against sales targets.
- Data analysis: summarise volume data periodically to support sales planning, and track market, pricing, client and volume data.
- Risk control: anticipate and mitigate risks arising from freight rate volatility.
- Market intelligence: collect market news, policy updates and competitor information on an ongoing basis.
